What is BSC?

The Balanced Scorecard (BSC) is a strategic management framework that measures organizational performance across four perspectives:

PerspectiveFocus
💰 FinancialRevenue, profitability, cost efficiency
👥 CustomerSatisfaction, NPS, retention, market share
⚙️ Internal ProcessesOperational quality, cycle times, efficiency
📚 Learning & GrowthEmployee skills, innovation, organizational capability

In COS, BSC is created per strategic cycle and linked to your strategic themes and OKRs.

Prerequisites

  • ✅ A strategic cycle is active
  • ✅ Strategic themes are defined (recommended)

Step-by-Step

Step 1: Create a New BSC

  1. Navigate to Strategy → Balanced Scorecard
  2. Click New BSC (top right)
  3. Fill in the form:
    • Name: e.g., "2025 Corporate BSC"
    • Cycle: Select the active strategic cycle
    • Unit: Select your organizational unit
  4. Click Create

Step 2: Add Perspectives

Each BSC contains the four standard perspectives. Click into each perspective to add strategic objectives.

  1. Open your BSC
  2. Click + Add Objective within a perspective card
  3. Enter:
    • Objective: e.g., "Increase Customer Retention Rate"
    • KPIs: Link KPIs from the library or create new ones
    • Target: Set the target value and measurement frequency
    • Owner: Assign a responsible person

Linking BSC objectives to strategic themes creates traceability from strategy to execution.

  1. In the objective form, open Theme Link
  2. Select one or more strategic themes this objective supports
  3. Save

Step 4: Set KPI Measurements

  1. Enter the BSC detail view
  2. For each KPI, click Add Measurement
  3. Enter the actual value for the period
  4. The system calculates progress against the target

Step 5: Monitor Progress

The BSC detail page shows:

  • Overall BSC Score: Weighted average across all perspectives
  • Perspective Scores: Health status per perspective
  • KPI Trend Charts: Progress over time per KPI
  • Traffic Light Indicators: Red / Yellow / Green status
